Abstract:
[Creativity opens our minds to solve the problems life gives us. How you present your creativity is how you choose to show yourself to the world. Connecting through creativity connects problems with solutions, differences with answers, and good with buddies.]
A crocodile evolved to have a symbiotic relationship with a Plover bird, so that, in order to survive they must dance into the depths of a killer’s mouth. The crocidille gets its mouth cleaned and the bird finds a source of food and nutrients that brings life to their species. Our dental health is related to our heart heath. This is something every land animal with a mouth shares.
A bird developed a beak and bravery because its life depended on it. The heart of an alligator must be worth dying for. Yet we know them as the most vicious killers, life is confusing.
Everyday were faced with problems, how we solve them is how choose what we want to grow. When we learned how to kill, we learned how to use salt to preserve the animal and make the invest of a kill worthwhile. We learned how to balance death with life. We made them equal. The longer something can provide for us the more value it has. Salt helped equate the harm we need to do to survive.
Sodium, along with potassium, is the element that powers the heart and dictates every action potential in our body. We created an electrical current in our body. I wasn’t there but I’m sure that is not what our early answers were planning. We developed a balanced connection, energy out is equal energy in. How much did the tribe value the kill, how much sodium was needed to preserve it.
There are no right answers to your question or problems you think you have to solve. There is only time to let it play out. You can see how it plays out in psychological time, up in your head, your own world or in real time. Can you make the two align?
Creativity is something we all have. It’s personal because it’s the thing that exposes us but it’s the thing that forces us to think differently. Imitation kills creation. Creativity is growing comfortable in your differences. We all have them. They shape the way we see the world. It takes creativity to get comfortable in this world or it takes creativity to make the world comfortable with you.
How comfortable are you with yourself. Do you trust yourself or what’s around you to solve your problems? There is always change, so there are always new problems presented. How we solve our own problems tells us what we value. What if you saw Tootin Tom walking around? Well I’ve never seen a Trumpet with legs or eyes in this world but if I saw one, and they were creating music they liked I would have to be inspired.
I don’t know if you’ll ever see a trumpet with legs walking around. But if you see one on a sweatshirt, the solution is to think “Woah that’s a really cool design! I want one!”
The neuroscience nerd in me backs this argument by sharing that there are no neural circuits that wire us to be smart, but there are three for creativity. They are in the frontal lobe, behind your eyes, Intelligence is being able to see beyond hardship.
